I've always been a bit socially awkward and uncomfortable in new situations, not as outgoing as others.
Over the years, I've had to adapt due to my work in the hospitality industry which prides itself on its ability to engage with customers.
I've had the opportunity to live in some amazing places and work with fantastic people from diverse cultural, ethnic, social and economic backgrounds.
I spent time in places ranging from Las Vegas which has the most unique hospitality mindset in the world to New York where the work ethic and passion will blow you away to Sydney, where I worked with business partners from all over Asia Pacific from India to Hong Kong, including Pacific Islands like Fiji and New Caledonia.
I've gotten to know immigrants, refugees, CEOs, entrepreneurs, travelers, musicians, lawyers, artists, doctors, and everyone in between.
One thing I've learned is that everyone has a perspective.
And when we gain understanding of perspective, we grow.
One of the ways I've been able to gain perspective is through the Three Tidbits.
When you meet someone new and learn about what they do for a living or what their passion is or how they identify themselves, an easy question to ask is "What are the Three Tidbits that you wish everyone knew about your [profession, passion, identity, or even trauma]?"
The answer is almost always thoughtful, insightful, and interesting.
It's not always about peoples professions either. Some of the most interesting topics are about challenges people have faced, such as going being an immigrant, going through a divorce, fighting an illness, or recovering from trauma.
Understanding of the Three Tidbits helps break down barriers, facilitates communication, and allows for some great discussion.
I started this site as a passion-project and my goal is to gather perspectives and eventually share the learnings with the world.
I hope you'll join me on this journey and if you would like to contribute your Three Tidbits, I'd love to spend some time together. Please share your contact information and I will be in touch.
Thanks for reading and let's see where this takes us together!
Best,
Samir Bhatnagar
